Mushroom Hunting with Amuse Bistro in Cowichan

WILD ABOUT MUSHROOMS!
This autumn, the search for wild mushrooms continues on Vancouver Island! The chefs’ of Amuse Bistro, a French inspired restaurant dedicated to fresh local foods in the Cowichan Valley, have teamed up with Brother Michael, a Benedictine monk from Solo del Monastery, to offer wild food foraging to all those interested in learning how to find, identify, clean, and prepare edible mushrooms. The Fall Mushroom Hunt, taking place in the Cowichan Valley, located 40 minutes north of downtown Victoria, will be held every Saturday in October with a couple of dates in November (weather depending). Interested foragers will begin their day at 9:00 am at Amuse Bistro and wrap up with a three-course wild mushroom lunch and a glass of local wine at 1:00 pm. The Fall Mushroom Hunt is $125.00 CDN/ $123.00 USD per person and includes a guided hunt with Brother Michael, return transportation from Amuse Bistro to the forest, and lunch. Mushrooms hunters must be able to handle mild hiking over moderate terrain and be able to keep a secret, as seasoned mushroom hunters rarely reveal their secret foraging spot.
