No Day Off for Master Chefs – EAT! Fraser Valley 2011

On Friday to Sunday, September 16-18, 2011, the 4th Annual EAT! Fraser Valley Food + Cooking Festival will host Chuck Hughes of Food Network Canada’s series, Chuck’s Day Off. Hughes will share the Food Network Celebrity Stage with Rob Feenie, the only other Canadian chef to win an Iron Chef America battle. Former Galloping Gourmet mogul and Author Graham Kerr, who headlined EAT! Vancouver in June, makes his inaugural appearance at EAT! Fraser Valley this year.

Held at the TRADEX Fraser Valley Trade & Exhibition Centre (1190 Cornell Street) next to the Abbotsford International Airport, foodies from all over the Lower Mainland will experience three days of food sampling, cooking demonstrations, and for the first time, the BC Chef’s Association’Iron Chef-style CityTV Master Chef Competition, which takes place on all three days and culminating in the finals on Sunday September 18. The competition will be judged by a record nine chefs this year. Competition sponsors include Windset Farms, Johnston’s, Spectrum Naturals, Hendrix Restaurant Equipment & Supplies, and Dudson China.

Fraser Valley’s Kathleen Rake presents seminars on the Grapes & Hops Presentation Stage with Rick Mohabir of Just Here for the Beer, while enthusiasts commune at the Wine, Beer and Spirits Tasting Pavilion. Each year, the Bite of the Valley Pavilion features local cuisine samples from a number of Fraser Valley restaurants at no more than $4 per dish, and guests can learn about the art of cheese at the Dairy Farmers of Canada Cheese Seminars.

EAT! Fraser Valley will feature over 100 exhibitors. Over 15,000 people are expected to attend this year.

Tickets are $12 adults, $10 seniors, $6 children. A $2 discount will be applied for adults and seniors if bought online.
