Field to Feast Celebrates the Best in Locally Sourced Food and Benefits the SPCA

Jens-Hugo and Virginia Jacobsen of Polderside Farms have been leaders in organic, humane farming and have won accolades for their healthy and delicious duck, chicken and lamb. Their poultry and lamb has become one of the signature ingredients in Vancouver’s finest restaurants and has won the loyalty of leading chefs and accolades from local food media

On June 27th, Jens-Hugo and Virginia will host a gourmet dining at their farm in Chilliwack, BC to celebrate and support local food and humane farming practices. “From Field to Feast” will be an inspired six-course banquet which combines the award-winning Polderside products with the award-winning inspiration from a team of local chefs led by Jeff Van Geest (Aurora Bistro, Diva at the Met) and Dale MacKay (Lumière). Net proceeds will benefit the work done by the SPCA in the area of farm animal welfare.

Nestled at the foot of Vedder Mountain, the idyllic setting of Polderside Farms will provide the perfect backdrop for this one-of-a-kind dinner experience. The contributing chefs have donated their time and will each create one course for this event.

“We’re really excited to be working with some of our great friends in the Vancouver restaurant business to host From Field to Feast”, said Virginia Jacobsen. “It will be a wonderful chance for us to welcome food lovers to our farm for a really special event that raises awareness of humane farming practices and sustainable local foods.”

The dinner service will be provided by Two Chefs and a Table, backstage caterer to the 2009 Junos, and will match the superb food with china, linens and comfortable surroundings, created expressly for this special event. Entertainment will be provided by award-winning Celtic band, “Wheat in the Barley”. Tickets are $200 per person and includes wine with each course and a charitable receipt.
