More musings on things to keep you busy
Coming up in June there’s a few more festivals and events I just had to point out. Les Dames Washington has cooking classes exploring cuisine from around the world, Chef Hamid Salimian and Bay Area Iranian- American chefs Hanif Sadr and Hoss Zare, and and Nader Mehravari are exploreing the food habits and culinary practices of Iran and the diaspora in a class, there’s a Chinese Food Festival, and locally there’s also a beer and donut pop up!
Les Dame d’Escoffier Washinton, D.C. Chapter Online Cooking Classes
A 5-part series of virtual cooking classes in June featuring international cuisines with DC Dames chefs from around the world.
Travel via Zoom each Wednesday in June to a new corner of the globe, unlocking the mysteries of exotic ingredients and novel cooking techniques. Led by five celebrated chefs, renowned cookbook authors and expert culinary instructors, guests will be whisked away on a virtual tour, complete with in-depth cooking demonstrations and expert wine or bespoke cocktail pairings from a member sommelier or mixologist.
These demonstration classes offer a chance for you to sit back, take notes and ask questions in real time as you watch a pro at work.

China Institute Food & Ideas Festival through June – a month-long celebration exploring modern China through food!
Conversations with China Foodies, including Chinese comfort food, in search of great soy sauce, global influences on Chinese cuisine and more! Suggestions for food-focused films, documentaries and cookbooks, including Grace Young’s Stir-Frying to the Sky’s Edge, one I’ve got my eye on. Sofreh: Iranian Cuisine Through the Seasons
Vancouver Chef Hamid Salimian join the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies and Diaspora Arts Connection for ُSofreh: Iranian Cuisine through the four Seasons with Chefs Hanif Sadr and Hoss Zare. This four-part foodways series with celebrated Bay Area Iranian-American chefs explores the food habits and culinary practices of Iran and the diaspora. This webinar features recipes, cooking demonstrations, and printed materials that document the history/culture of foods we will learn to prepare. The ticket price includes online access to cooking demonstration and conversations with guest chefs, recipes, and articles for each season. Beer and doughnut pop-up at 45 Water Street
