Dinner by Design & Cocktail Art

On Sept 20 and 21 IDSwest and The Social Concierge present Dinner by Design & Cocktail Art

The third annual Monogram® Dinner by Design, presented by GE Monogram® and The Social Concierge, in partnership with IDSwest, is where Vancouver’s twin passions for fine design and fine dining come together on two tasteful and tasty nights (Sept. 20 and 21, 2015) to benefit CANFAR and Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

Monogram® Dinner by Design will offer 15 top-tier, West Coast-based interior designers free rein to create extraordinary tablescapes within a 12×12-foot footprint — the only limit is their imagination. The tablescapes, as well as six high-style bars, will serve as the backdrop for two magical, back-to-back evenings:

  • Cocktail Art!, Vancouver’s largest and most stylish cocktail party for 750 guests (Sunday, Sept. 20)
  • Dinner by Design, a multi-course dining experience for 150 guests served inside the Dinner by Design tablescapes (Monday, Sept. 21)

Participating tablescape designers include contemporary traditionalist Karla Amadatsu, “Golden Girl” Stephanie Brown and award-winning architect and designer Sean Pearson of RUFproject. Internationally renowned, award-winning firm II by IV Design will install the central sponsor tablescape, which incorporates premium-grade appliances from the GE Monogram line into the design.

In addition, former Whitecaps Captain and Portmanteau Stereo Company founder Jay Demerit and Calgary design rockstar Amanda Hamilton will head a roster of celebrity and VIPs in creating killer cocktail bars.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, Cocktail Art! will bring upwards of 750 guests together for an extravagant showcase of Vancouver’s world-renowned cocktail culture. An all-star bar team, helmed by Absolut Brand Ambassador Jacob Sweetapple, will concoct a series of signature cocktails, each conceived to push the limits of mixology.

Monogram® Dinner by Design takes place the following night, Monday, Sept. 21, and will see 150 guests take their assigned seats at one of the designers tablescapes for a sumptuous, multi-course feast — prepared by Chef Taryn Wa of Savoury Chef Foods — complete with wine and bubble pairings.

Those wishing to view the remarkable and unfettered creations of some of Canada’s top designers may also take part in the student-friendly public viewing on the afternoon of Monday, September 22 from noon to 5 pm. The suggested donation is $20 with 100% of admission benefiting CANFAR and Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
