News From Howling Bluff Winery

Sin Cera 2008 release September 13

Luke Smith, is pleased to announce the release of their 2008 Sin Cera. This is a Meritage style blend of Howling Bluff estate grapes. Dominated by Merlot (80% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 16% Malbec) the wine shows intense plum, black cherry and coffee with further complex flavours and aromas of cassis, clove, cinnamon, pepper and chocolate. The finish is long and complex with concentrated flavours that both linger and evolve. Built for aging, this wine has ripe, fine grained tannins that will reward 6-12 years in the cellar, or decanting to drink now. The wine was aged in premium French oak for 16 months. This vintage is following the footsteps of the 2007 Sin Cera which received Gold from the 2010 All Canadian Wine Championships and Silver at the 2009 Canadian Wine Awards.

Luke comments, “The 2008 Sin Cera continues our no compromise attitude when it comes to producing world class wine. We also upped the bar with this wine by letting one third of the juice take wild yeast. The result is the best Sin Cera vintage yet. This baby has legs of tannin that stretch to the next decade and the fruit that will make you say “wow.” I believe the 2008 Sin Cera will tell the wine world that our Summa Quies Vineyard is ready to consistently produce world class wine.

There are only 500 cases produced of the 2008 Sin Cera, priced at $29 a bottle so order yours early.

Our select wines are made using our own estate-grown grapes, state of-the-art winery equipment and premium French oak barrels. Uncompromising standards and wine making that is not afraid to take risks to ensure that each bottle is a pleasure to the palate – a reflection of our commitment to superior quality. Howling Bluff produces only three wines: an estate blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, an estate Pinot Noir, and Sin Cera an estate Bordeaux blend of our own Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc grapes.
